Introduction
Known as Brazil's version of the Zion Narrows. While the walls of Farias Narrows don't reach up thousands of feet, they do rise hundreds of feet , perhaps 500+ feet high, and create a very dark and deep canyon. A great place to explore on a hot sticky day in the jungle. Can be combined with Capetinga to do on the same day.
Approach
Descent
R1: DCL to avoid logjam in flow. R2: jump, 4m. R3: traverse out on wide lid then down rabbit hole, stunning. R4: nice short one into 200’ long pool and the start of the narrows. Walk out into open creek, recommend exit left. Final two rappels require heinous steep climb around and additional hiking on an already long exit
Exit
After the final rappel you are likely to encounter hikers hiking up from the bottom.
