Chemical deterioration hypothesis?

Is there any evidence for Chemical deterioration of the webbing? From the information presented, I would suspect erosion from waterflow that was not detected on inspection. Was 100% of the webbing inspected, even the stuff under the big rock? Ratagonia (talk) 18:52, 27 February 2017 (EST)
