Introduction
Another mini canyon off of the Bear mountain traverse. A less commiting and shorter version of Big Bear.
Approach
Park at Sun Bear parking and take sun bear approach to the social traverse trail. Head around the corner just west of Sun Bear to the lower drainage of Big Bear Canyon.
Descent
R1: 95’ off tree RDC.
Or…
Baby Bear Alternative: Continue traversing another minute along the shelf and enter a more defined drainage that has 2-3 raps under 50’ and enters the main canyon prior to R2.
R2: 80’ off tree LDC.
R3: 70’ off tree RDC.
Exit
After the canyon opens up Take jeep trail and exit on the left. This is the same exit as Sun Bear.
