Introduction
This a unique canyon in Death Valley due to the running spring and heavy vegetation. And running water in the rappels. And a spectacular slot that drops over 180' to the wash. The low star ratings are due to the minimum raps. But is is a worthy canyon for the area because of these unusual features.
Approach
Descent
In this canyon we did a total of of 4 rappels. One at the top of the canyon around 75' that can be bypassed. But it is a very nice drop and in the canyon, so we elected to add it - made more interesting canyon trip. And split up the long 180'rappel into two raps at the water section to avoid rope pull problems, where the rope makes a turn in the corner. Put in a new anchor for the final 100'. An equalized Knot-Block & Rock-Chock Anchor. And another small rappel at the bottom, that you can also bypass. Although they aren't mandatory rappels, so you have the option either way.
