Introduction[edit]

Shortly before reaching Kram Ranch the road crosses a wash which can be washed out after heavy rains and is always quite sandy - passenger car may not be advisable.

Though the Supai narrows in North Canyon are scenic and unique, they are quite short and the hiking to get there is long and tedious.

An "express" route above the canyon that will shorten time spent hiking in the winding, open gravel wash is possible through the slope/minor drainage indicated on the map.

Approach[edit]

Descent[edit]

The slide/downclimb to reach the pool for the anchor for the one rappel may not be safe to descend/ascend without rope - especially after recent rains. If the pool above the drop is full, you will displace enough water when moving through it to get the very steep spot where you can downclimb wet where the rock becomes quite slick. Anchors can be rigged from one of many chokestones in a large crack above this drop on either side of the canyon to assist with getting down/up this drop and down the rappel. Rigging an anchor from here will require about 130 feet of rope to get down the slide and rappel.

Some may find the second drop of 15 feet less appealing as a downclimb (bypassing on the right) and more appealing as a short rappel since the bypass is steep and a bit exposed - a short rope (20 feet) would solve this problem.
