Introduction[edit]

Penrose Gully canyon (a.k.a. Crooked Crevice canyon) is famous for it's narrowness. It is quite short (maybe only 50m long) but its narrowness makes it an interesting little challenge. It is a good winter canyon that pairs well with Tiger Snake Canyon v3a1 . It does not require wetsuit but you will get your feet wet. You should also wear full length clothing as the VERY narrow sandstone walls are scratchy.

Approach[edit]

  • Walk in along the Tiger Snake Canyon track.
  • At approximately -33.22867, 150.24599 turn of the track toward the start of the canyon at -33.22395, 150.24445

Descent[edit]

Problem ID Type Metres Location Note
1 Abseil 10m RL Bolts
2 Abseil 10m RL Bolts. Quite squeezy and can be difficult to start.
3 Abseil 25m RC Sling in the pool

Exit[edit]

At the bottom turn right (north) and proceed until you find a ramp back up to the top.
