Introduction[edit]

Polblue Falls is a exciting trip to explore the Barrington Tops. It has got 2 juicy slot waterfalls to abseil.

Approach[edit]

Can camp at Horse Swamp campsite. Park at Polblue picnic area and walk down to the river. It might be good to put the wet suit on, depending on temperature.

Take care basalt is very slippery when wet.

  • Location
  • Descent[edit]

    500 meters walk.

R1: 7m single bolt RR (left arm of creek)

R2: 5m single bolt RL (left arm of creek)

    R3: 32m 2 bolts RR

    800 meters walk.

R4: 10m 2 bolts RL (slippery, optionally use access line from sling in large boulder) Do not abseil all the way down from here or the higher sling, rope pull very difficult.

R5: 28m 2 bolts RR (good small ledge for 2 persons)

    R6: 10m single bolt RL

    R7: 20m single bolt RR

R8: 10m 2 bolts without hangers RR on wall left side of exit gully (climb back up this last one to exit the canyon)

    Exit[edit]

After R8, climb back up to small rocky exit gully just left of right of the bolts. Follow up left of rocky ridge till you reach 1290m altitude, then traverse to reach Tubrabucca Rd where it crosses the side creek coming from Butchers Swamp. Walk on the dirt road back to the car.
