Introduction[edit]
Rough Canyon Falls is a two-stage waterfall rappel at the end of Rough Canyon. It's a long walk for just this dryfall with pothole, but is great in combination with Not Shaylee Birthday Canyon and Shaylee Birthday Canyon.
Approach[edit]
A nice loop can be made hiking down (or up) Rough Canyon and then up (or down) Tabeguache Canyon, both non-technical canyon hikes.
Timing the Spring waterflow in Rough Canyon would be great, but it is a narrow window or best after a rain storm.
Descent[edit]
A few large boulders in the upper slot provide nice solid pinches for anchors. Set an anchor and retrieve it when done rappelling.
R1: 100' from a boulder in the upper slot will stretch into the pothole and down the second stage to the ground below.
Scramble up the ledges after the rappel to the top.
Exit[edit]
Return to the trailhead up Rough Canyon, Tabeguache Canyon, or the Tabeguache OHV Trail.
