Introduction[edit]

This is the only canyon developed to date in limestone in Jalisco and is located in the center of the state, about 2 hours drive from Guadalajara. It has become the most popular canyon in the state since the garbage dump was built in the headwaters of Huaxtla. Part of the great attraction is that all the rappels can be climbed / jumped around, and that there are lots of jumps each one with variable heights. Note: One does NOT want to be here during the rainy season (June thru Oct.)

Approach[edit]

After arriving at the town of Chiquilistlan, one takes the road south to the village of Jalpa, stopping at the bridge just before town. this is the Put in. then one needs to drive 30 minutes up and over to the village of Comala, and drive down thru the cane fields, to the Cascadas de Comala, where one leaves the car shuttle. or actually pick up truck shuttle as one has to fiord the stream, so high clearance is needed.
