Comments: We did the south route starting from the river. The handline on the approach is getting worn and needs replacing. Also be careful of loose rock, we had a close call with a ~20 lbs sized stone falling while passing packs.

Comment: Badger was mostly dry, except for a few easily avoidable pools. Packrafted from Badger to Soap and exited the South Fork. The upclimbs on the exit are all straightforward but were quite strenuous with heavy packs full of wet whitewater gear. Received some sun on the river but minimal light in both side canyons this time of year. Condition report time reflects the full loop, car-to-car.

Comment: North Fork quality is great, did 3 rappels to the river. Please don't add bolts, and keep the rappels clean and limit trash. Cool canyon.

Comment: North fork to river took about an hour and a half, webbing at all drops. A few are getting crispy but good enough for now. Canyon is interesting but not quite as sculpted as the short narrows in north soap. Inflated packraft and had a leisurely float down to soap. No raft groups came by, so had an excellent beach camp all to myself for the night. Next morning about 4 hours from soap beach to lunch at Cliffdwellers with a nap stop in the middle. Great solo loop.

Comment: All pools and mud avoidable. We fixed and ascended/hauled up, which added a fun bit of practice and learning.

Comment: All pools avoidable in the North Fork. We did the south entrance, and the webbing was in place and helpful.

Comment: Descended the North fork and took the South exit. Light flow through the canyon and pools were all at or under waist depth. Deep mud throughout. Handline is in place rigged from a bolt to aid with the exit climb. Set a shuttle at the highway which after the relatively long and arduous hike through soft sand and against high winds (20-30mph) we all agreed was a great call.

Comment: We did the loop from the river via the southern exit. The class-5 move had a webbing handline installed. All pools were avoidable, though the last rap required assistance from folks on the bottom to swing the person on rope clear of a mud puddle.

Comment: We took the South fork and the North exit.
Once dropping into the canyon the scenery was beautiful!! Intricate walls, overhung layered rock shelves and picturesque pools! All pools were avoidable. Lots of crusted over mud flats further down that, if not paying attention, you can walk into and find yourself waist deep in the chocolate milk hidden below as a few of our group did! Most of the raps were pleasantly over hung and very enjoyable despite being less than 100'. We took our time, did some ascending practice and hung out. Coming out to the Colorado River was awesome! Great chance to filter water and take a dip! We spent a bit of time enjoying the river before starting on the exit. The North exit was a long annoying rock hop along the shore in between sections of soft sand. The sun was beating down and there was little shade, luckily we could take dips in the still freezing river. The scree slope up to the cliff band was VERY loose and has lots of big rocks that moved easily, take care! Once up top the desert walk was long, monotonous, and had lots of soft sand that made hiking less than enjoyable. We did not leave a shuttle. I would do it again, go down and visit the river but would definitely leave ropes and ascend back out. The exit was not very enjoyable. In my opinion, the scenery was alright but not worth the hike. The canyon technical section is way more interesting and much prettier! Beta has been updated!

Comment: Took the North fork from the road and really enjoyed it. Counted 4 rappels to date 3 in the north fork, and one in the continuation.
We opted for the Souther exit #2. Exit beta on the page is all we needed and was spot on. We may have taken the ledge too far toward the river but went up and exposed section. Did not see a handline or bolt, but they may have been missed. Brought a set of climbing nuts which is all you would need to protect the top. I just climbed the short section then belayed my partner. The loose and steep terrain after the 5th class move and before the cliff band was the spot where we took most time navigating the choss. Potholes were waist deep in areas. Anchors in good condition.

Comment: south fork with north exit: replaced webbing at a couple anchors. at the second rap we installed a new anchor another ~50 feet further down the ledge LDC from where we found webbing to avoid some muddy-looking areas. the limestone is pretty sharp over there so be aware of that. having done both the south and north exits, i definitely prefer the south. it's shorter and way less sketchy. that traverse back to the exit drainage above the cliffs on the north exit is scary! steep and unstable feeling, though i'll admit we never slid or anything. My vote is for the North fork for scenery, though both are beautiful.
