Comments: Hard to believe it was a February day - warm, bordering on hot, even up top. Togglingworked great at all 11 raps, most had webbing, a couple we ghosted. Moved the “30’ back” anchor from a tree on an agave-infested RDC line back to the 30’ back place in watercourse. Upper reaches of this route are full of hair-trigger talus, some of which creates challenges at some anchor sites and rap lines. I support the recommendation to keep to small, experienced teams on this one. First 3-4 drops are underwhelming due to heavy brush and restricted views, but it gets much better further down.

Comment: A good fun canyon for a another full day option from Bear Summit. We did the optional 100’ direct down from the summit, fiddling a large rock horn. Definitely recommend this option! Top drainage is fairly bushy and loose. We encountered no webbing on most of this route as it had all been cut recently. We replaced all cut webbing and all anchors are now in good condition. Used Fiddle or CEM on most drops anyway. Bushyness continues with quite a few downclimbs. The red rock section is better, where Little Bear comes in, more clear. Trail out has some really cool flakey rock formatioms and a large rabbit hole cave to climb down through. Eventually a trail appears once joining SunBear drainage, exit straight forward. Definitely a worthwhile route with some cool views and fun drops!

Comment: Lots of snow and ice on Bear Mtn. We were happy to have micro spikes! We started from the summit at “Rappel 0” ghosting off a large rock horn just off the trail. I still really like this extra 100’ rap and think it is worth doing! Alot of snow and ice in upper section R1 had lots of ice and huge icicles. As we made our way down the snow eventually faded away to a trickle of water throughout. Cleaned up alot of overgrowth around rappels with my saw. One rappel didnt have webbing on the tree anymore so we ghosted it. Lots of the raps are fun enough, scenery really pretty at the end.

Comment: Removed bad webbing and ghosted many of the rappels. Upper section is dirty with many potential for rock fall. Skipped first rappel of off top. Great rappels on lower section.

Comment: Great full day canyon. Don't bother with the first rap, take the bypass down to rap 2. For rap 3 don't throw you pull bag take it with you. This canyon requires a lot of rope management. If I were to do this canyon again I would either set up a car shuttle or drop the car at the beginning. Start early..

Comment: Fantastic trip! Very raw and wild canyon. Lots of bushwhacking between raps (luckily no catclaw) route could use a pruning! wish I had brought my saw! Regardless, definitely worth doing, the raps were all fun and scenic! Raps 1, 10, and 11 were our favorites! We didn't set up a shuttle but I would definitely recommend doing so.

Comment: Route starts at the summit. just east is a small pine on the edge of the cliff for r1. it appeared as if there was a trail coming in from the east, just before the summit. We found an anchor at r2 and realized this was an unpublished route.
