Comments: UBG exploration, with a run of the lower section on the way out. Upper section is fine. As mentioned, worse rock and less water because it's above the confluence with Little Granite Creek. I suspect it could be quite fun as an early-season or even spring trip with more water, though real water would require building actual anchors. We ghosted this trip. There's also a little side creek that comes in below our R1 that definitely has some cool canyon features. It had barely a trickle when we were there, so not motivated to explore it, but seems worthwhile with more flow. I'd strongly recommend trying the "alternate" approach on the map. I do like me a good steep thrash through live oak and manzanita, but I bet we could have simply avoided it.
