Comment: Great canyon. Quick in and out. 2 hours car to car. Anchors in great shape. Great bang for the buck here. The Loy canyon area is a beautiful area.

Comment: Awesome and super quick route with high reward R1 and R2 is fun as well. Beautiful views at the top. We exited the wash and took

the social trail along the rock wall and if you take it to far, you’ll get cliffed out & you’ll know you went too far. We back-tracked and stumbled upon an anchor off of a pine tree, this is NOT Brown Bag Special!! I am not sure who set this webbing or why but we rappelled on it, only to find out it was not, BBS.. there was actually a second rappel set on a tree after this but we knew this was incorrect so we turned RUC and scrambled back up and took the correct approach the second time around. I think someone got lost and created these anchors to bail out. I updated the beta to reflect clearer approach instructions. Super fun canyon!

Comment: Forgot to mention that I replaced the webbing on R1 with a longer (sedona orange-colored) W2P1 so there’s a better angle for rope pull. Rap ring wasn’t rated so that was removed and replaced with a quick link. R2 webbing was severely sun damaged so that was replaced as well. Read below for my more in-depth condition report.

Comment: Very short yet fun canyon route that can easily be done in two hours or less. We established a new route today near "Hang Em High" which only took us 3 hours so we had some time to kill. This route was the perfect option. It offers beautiful views and two fun rappels. The approach is one of the best in Sedona. All anchors are in good shape. No issues with rope pull. We fiddled the first rap and biner blocked the second. Our 130' rope and a pull cord was all that was needed. I recommend this route if you are short on time or want to combine it with another route near by. Would definitely do it again!

Comment: Great bang for your buck mini canyon! Beautiful little alcove slot definitely worth visiting! Would be great to hit real quick on the way up to End of Rope or Hung out to Dry!

As always, this is one of my favorite Sedona approaches. The canopy tunnel up the drainage is well traveled and very pretty. Once up top he views are fantastic! Especially at dusk!

We got to the alcove as the sun started to set. Nice free hanging rappel. Once inside, the curved walls framed the burning sky perfectly, gorgeous!!

2nd rap does require a bit of exposure; some careful movements to avoid feet slipping on the downclimb.

Foliage was thick in the bottom but we were back out to the main gully quickly.

Definitely a great option as a quick end cap to the day, or a mini route to hit on your way up to the other big ones that share that approach.

Comment: fun, quick run up and back down. This cute little alcove seems to be getting some traffic, a defined exit trail is forming at the bottom of R2. R1 webbing has been replaced, R2 cordelette was fine.

Comment: Worthwhile addition to the Loy canyon circuit.

Originally we were going to link this one up with hangmans gallows close by. After Hangmans we decided to save the Brown Bag Special for Black Friday ad it seemed appropriate.

A good quick route on its own would be an ideal route for a quick solo or as a link up for a half-day.

We went early to beat the lines and it made for a pleasant shaded approach.

PG rating is appropriate for the Rockwall on the approach, entrance downclimb, and the short but exposed downclimb on R2 to the bolts. (special challenges)

R1 is fantastic, and R2 made a nice ending to a quick run.

If in the area this is an add on or quickie you should explore.

Comment: Better than expected! Cleaned some vegetation by the first rappel so that the rope isn’t being dragged through cacti on the pull. The step to R2 is definitely airy. Removed a loose rock that had chipped away from the sandstone, and the impression left behind now provides for a solid foot when stepping down. Remeasured R2 and found it closer to 60’. A sweet little route, and a good backup if plans to do something bigger nearby don’t pan out.

Comment: Not an ideal day with the looming chance for rain and heavy gusting, but rain never came and the winds died down. Nonetheless we opted out of bigger plans and decided to shoot down this little canyon for the first time to quickly returning us back to the trail we came in on and back to the car before worse weather arrived. Totally worth repeating.
