Comment: Fiddled everything and sand trapped one (last rappel of upper section). Lots of big rappels (most multistage) so make sure you know next anchor before pulling rope. Lower section is much more scenic than upper and has pools up to chest deep. Alcove is solid chill spot with great views of tip top arch up to the right.

CONDITIONS

Approach: Standard approach. Nothing eventful here.

Water Exposure: In the lower section of the canyon there are some potholes that are holding water. Not all of it is avoidable so you will get wet to some degree or another. There isn't any swimmers, but it will get up to chest deep. In hot weather a wetsuit is not needed. Some in our group brought them just in case they were needed. While we could have all done it without wetsuits, those who had them used them and we glad for it. The other thing to keep in mind is that the canyon does get shaded in the later part of the day--which is likely when most groups will reach the wet section.

Anchors & Rappels: There are some pieces of webbing present. We didn't place them but opted not to cut them out either. Each person will have to make their call on this.

We fiddled and sandtrapped most drops. We did have an issue with a sandtrap getting stuck on in the upper section (it might have been the last rap in the upper section) but there was a large ramp we walked up on the north side of the canyon that enable us to pull the sandtrap out of the constrictions. It failed to empty all the sand before become lodged.

Exit: The exit is simple, just follow the use trail(s) out of the canyon back to the parking area.
