Comments: Big flood deposited cemented sand (caliche) in many places and thrashed some anchors. Some downclimbs and anchor traverses made tricky because of the caliche - like climbing on cement with occasional ball bearings. R5 anchor gone - set one off a log in the flow, but it will not last long. May need a deadman if that log goes.

Comment: R4 was anchored from a giant log in a log matrix. There was also a trad anchor on canyon left with a hammered-in fixed blade and two nuts that were all equalized with old tat. We left that but didn't use it. The log we used was perfectly positioned exactly at the start of the three stage rap. Once down the 15' drop, 10' drop, and final ramp, there is a ~30 foot long hallway there between the bottom of R4 and the top of R5, and it has a lot of small talus pieces laying around, but no trees for anchors. We built a deadman here, and that worked well. There really were no other natural anchor options in this spot, and it seemed certain the information on this page just had a slight mix-up with which rap is the deadman. It's R5.

The R6 downclimb is easy on big holds on canyon right.

We followed the instructions for R7, but wished we hadn't. I think the best choice would be to rap off a gigantic tree that's perfectly positioned in line with the "slide" where the water is channeled. There was cord on a that tree there but we skipped past it because we wanted to follow the information on this page. We traversed on canyon left and hiked down a dirt slope to reach a tree that we rapped off. The tree had webbing already, and this seemed to be where the beta described going. It was fine but it would have been cooler to just stay in the watercourse for R7.
