Comments: Fun day in a colorful canyon! We followed the gpx route in ropewiki for the approach, and it followed a boulder wall, social trail through tall grasses, and traversing through rows of corn. We encountered the farmers who were very friendly and asked why we didn’t take the road. We aren’t sure why the road isn’t the beta approach - perhaps it’s an access issue. Either way, if the road (which can be seen on a topo map) access goes, that would be far better than the approach in the ropewiki beta. I listed “special challenges” because of the abundance of barbed wire and hose to look out for on R1, and the challenge of very sharp, loose rock. We didn’t see any slides, and we downclimbed R4, so it was basically 3 nice rappels (R3 being very scenic), a long creek walk mostly on nice sticky bedrock, and 2 nuisance rappels. Overall though, the creek is quite pretty, and ending the day at the thermal pools made it probably a 4-star experience all told. Photo credit: Madeline Hwang
