Comments: This canyon was horrible in the summer. Road trip Ryan recommends wetsuits and I carried dead weight the whole way. We thought once we made it to the canyon floor it would at least be well shaded, we were wrong. About 50% of the canyon was in direct sunlight with minimal shade and cool spots to rest. While I can't comment on the necessity of a wetsuit when the canyon is full of water nor to the canyon being a good one for summer in high water conditions. I can say with confidence in the conditions we endured, this canyon was not worth the effort. The pot hole sections were a fun challenge but the downclimbs were atrocious and the water sections too short for the summer heat. I will likely never do this canyon again.

Comment: Great canyon! Amazing pothole section! The good part is very short, and buffered by hours and hours of walking in the desert and then through mediocre slot. But the enormous potholes are quite spectacular.
The potholes are right before the slot ends, at the very end of the route. The normal route goes way, way above the pothole sections, and then you spend several hours walking back down through the slot to get to the potholes. Ideally, there would be a shorter approach with a sooner entrance into the slot. There's nothing worth seeing above the potholes. Canyon was completely dry. Roads dry. Anchors fine. I tentatively give it five stars, but it would be way more fun with some water! | |||||||

Comment: Very fun! Almost completely dry. The potholes were fun, not scary, and frequently had pinches available for good anchors. We also used sandtraps, packs, partner assists.
