Comment: We had a great trip during the Ouray Canyonfest. Flow is nice with a few small technical challenges. Webbing was replaced on 2 of the anchors. It flashed recently, so the canyon has been swept of much of the algae and slime, so it's nice and grippy right now.

Comment: Bolts at the big rappel have been fixed after a flood in 2022 damaged those anchors. Slippery - all downclimbs needed a rope for safety with the bigger water and slick surfaces.

Comment: Canyon flashed again. Had to rebuild most anchors. The one sad bolt at the big drop needs replaced. We didn't have a bolt kit with us. Both the hanger and the bolt were flexing. Hard to back this one up. Use caution!

The canyon is super clean after the flood. Not a single tree in the watercourse. Such a good canyon! Just be prepared to replace anchors as this beast floods often!

Comment: Incredible stone features! Beautiful colors! Fun rappels! Such an amazing canyon!

We started late after 2 of us had 2hrs of sleep driving up from AZ the night before. The hike up took us about 3hrs with lots of breaks.

The approach in it’s self was gorgeous, with a lush dense aspen jungle up top!

We decided to bypass the main fork and hit the South fork which was totally worth the extra hike! The first 170’ rap was fantastic!

The rock in the South fork is very slippery but once the confluence in reached, all the rock was very sticky even in the flow!

The slotted red rock section is absolutely gorgeous!

We spent alot of time searching for the bolted anchors that were all covered over with a thick sediment crust from flash floods. We also had to rebuild or replace alot of the natural anchors that were swept away or badly damaged.

We couldnt pull our rope on the 190’ rap so I ascended back up and flipped our biner-block so the pull side was under the rappel side which made the rope pullable.

The hanger and bolt at the 190’ rap station have been badly damaged by rocks. The hanger is crushed flat, the bolt is mangled and has some wiggle to it; it should be replaced…

Quite a few fun downclimbs throughout canyon that some may consider “spicy”.

I wore a 4/3 suit w/ rain jacket and was plenty comfy.

We had an awesome day, what a fantastic canyon!!

Comment: Approach is certainly long and strenuous but affords incredible views of the surrounding mountains and passes through a particularly beautiful section of forest with massive aspens and dense fern undergrowth.

We continued to the South Fork of Corbett Creek, scrambling up the wall of scree then traversing over to the neighboring drainage. To ease the pull on the first 170' rap, we replaced the existing webbing and shifted the anchor position higher up on the tree. Be cautious as there is a lot of loose rock above this rap and throughout this side drainage. No major pull issues with this rap or any of the others. Downclimbed R3 and R4, before reaching the confluence with Corbett Creek.

The 200' rap was excellent. Downclimbing through the red rock narrows was also a highlight (weak downclimbers will likely need a few partner assists). Note that there are a couple extra rappels than what is shown on the KML. Wore a 3/2 wetsuit with a rain jacket and was comfortable. 8 hours car-to-car with the group moving at a moderate pace. Exit went quick.

    Comment: Great run!

Report by Nclegg is spot on!

Loose rock up top but it cleans up down lower. Fun downclimbs.

On one of the lower rappels first man down cleaned some loose rock. We left a dead tree standing in the watercourse. This should be cleared if it is still standing as it is loose and a tempting handhold on one of the more pumpy sections.

Comment: Pretty 90 min hike to the top. Great swiftwater canyon. High flow made for a fun run. I'd skip the south fork "bonus section" - it adds additional vertical, the route is mostly chossy down scrambles, and we skipped two of the four raps because they're stupid.

In the main canyon - lots of deadfall and tree carnage to negotiate. occasionally it's helpful for downclimbs, usually not. at least two additional raps after the final published rap on the KML, so don't gear down until the exit.

Comment: This was our first canyon of the Ouray rendezvous, we did it with minimal information (not have received the book) but worked out all the rappels. This canyon can be done with 200' ropes, no need for 220'. Apparencly canyon flashed recently (they told us days earlier) as cars were still stuck in the rocks and mud at the bottom parking lot. Flow was moderate but water milky, sporty but not too intense. Water was cold. Some drops did not have anchors (either washed away or we did not see them) and had to downclimb a lot and use fiddlestick couple times.
