Comments: Used my 3mm shorts/shirt wetsuit.. came in handy through this long endless canyon.. although it is magical and great it is at the up most very demanding ..definitely underestimated how much debris we would have to navigate through, lots of down climbing, Boulder hopping, creek walking, tree crossing and scrambling is what this canyon is all about .. I did enjoy the couple slides and rappels are great but it is a very long canyon ride that’s for sure.. one of the 80’ ft waterfalls had no anchor so I rigged a macrame on a rock n nailed it… I had to macrame a couple of rappels off of natural anchors.. just know if your going through here your mental game needs to be on point and so does your skills to navigate through this canyon… definitely not for the faint nor any beginners Stay safe out there 😉

Comment: The rappels in this canyon are top notch, the long approach and long length of the canyon kinda sucked but I thought it was worth it. The two main waterfalls are some of the prettiest in the San Gabes. The water felt really nice on a hot day, we removed some old webbing and added a couple of webbing anchors. Willie: 1st water was only 53F, but at the slide and first waterfall was closer to 60F, and last waterfall 65F, thus shorts and a rain jacket was plenty to stay warm. I will note that long pants is useful in all the deadfall in much of the canyon, and to avoid hitting the prevalent stinging nettle. The air temp was pleasant in the canyon even though it was 100F+ in the IE. All the beta'ed rappels have good anchors now, except the last waterfall we ghosted of the log that spans high above the canyon.

Comment: Beautiful canyon! Nice cool water on a hot day. Upper portion before the technical section was somewhat brushy but the canyon got better the lower I went, and there's an intermittent use-trail after the technical section. There were a lot of bugs in some parts. Raps all straightforward. Flow was fairly high but the canyon never gets very narrow so the current wasn't a problem.

Comment: This was a planned overnight, and gear retrieval trip (gear left during a recent rescue). We entered a 1 PM and camped near the first rappel; out by 3 PM the next day. We pulled out all the old webbing, as most of it was shot. We ghosted several rappels since it's straight forward in Cucamonga. We did leave a new knot chock for R3 (note: we did two R3's, so we were not sure which was the "real" R3). Water flow was awesome with spectacular water falls throughout middle canyon! Weather was awesome too. There was basically no bushwhacking because the recent storms have cleaned out the canyon of brush.

Comment: This canyon is great! It's a nice long walk, and the waterfalls are pretty spectacular. There was plenty of warm water. The weather was flawless. The webbing was in place but old, so we doubled most of the slings up with fresh stuff. The bushwhacking was annoying in places, but not a deal breaker. The "+" in our time was due to the last mile of exit being dark (don't underestimate the commitment!), so our progress was impeded somewhat.
