Comments: This canyon is flowing at extreme levels and should only be run is very, very competent Class C canyoneers. At least two people need to be familiar with reading currents, escaping very powerful swirling potholes, setting up guide lines, and have throw ropes ready. Do not underestimate the power of the water in this flow. The canyon has changed significantly from the 2015 season - log anchors are gone, and other logs have accumulated in other places, some rappels are now jumps, footholds are buried 2 feet below the water. The 80' waterfall underneath the bridge is very dangerous due to the slippery rock and risk of slipping/falling and setting up a meat guided rappel is highly recommended.

Comment: Another late season run. I replaced the webbing on R2 (root ball above Upper Davis Falls) as the current webbing was pretty damaged.

Comment: The new bolts are indeed lovely! The water level is definelty low at this point. The boulder at the bottom of the V slot is above water. Make sure to scout the jumo at the bottom of Upper Davis Falls as there is new(ish) rock just below the surface DCL.

Comment: Flow looked moderate according to reference photos but felt more on the moderate-low side. Incredibly slippery creek. 5/4mm was comfortable. Approximately 2.5h in canyon and 30 min to gear down and walk the road and retrieve our vehicle.

Comment: Canyon is in great shape. The maintenance and newer bolts have improved it a lot and made the canyon easier to run than I remember from a couple years ago. The water felt and looked like a strong moderate. It may have picked up a little from the rain. Was a good day!

Comment: We spent 3 hours hauling and cutting the log out of the whirlypool. If you find a DMM pulley biner atop R4 keep it. Would’ve been nice to still have a redirect, even if decommissioned, on R8. Great trip, great team, great canyon!

Comment: Great day in Davis, curiously lower flow than when we ran it early July last year, despite the Cowlitz gauge reading nearly double. We replace the webbing and quicklinks above the roundy pool with stainless links, swapped the webbing for the log slide rappel, and the redirect had the nut spun nearly completely off so we removed the hanger and link, the bare bolt is still there. Even at this flow jumping into the pool at the bottom of the bridge simply flushes you straight out, and the redirect seems like it creates more of a hazard than anything.
The log in the roundy pool is wedged up well above the water. It does impede the jump, but isn’t a hazard in the pool.

Comment: Did not descend Davis today, although the flow was likely doable for a strong team. More notably there is now a large log in the recirculating pool. It may get washed away before the season, however if you are the first team down this summer, make sure to get a look of the log from the road before descending! More logs/debris may arrive and be deposited here from the up stream log jame

Comment: Overcast slightly rainy day but all were comfortable. The redirects have no caribeaners.

Comment: Some recent rains bumped the water level up to moderate or more likely moderate-low. Rain also left everything in the canyon wet and slippery. This was my third time through Davis, and I have noticed this canyon is pretty slippery to begin with, combine that with a light moister coating on everything and it's even worse.
I've updated the beta for rappel lengths for R1 and R5. I brought my ultra-light 70foot rope for all the short rappels as listed previously on the beta and was short at R1 and R5 and had to extend my pulls, so the beta has been updated. Cleaned up several glass bottles and trash under the bridge. We did not have a safe way to carry out some broken glass. Future canyoners watch out for glass and if you have a spare empty keg to remove the glass that would be great. Found new anchor at the drop between R9 and R10 (Webbing DCL from root ball). This is the drop with the big knobby log that we all used to butt skootch down in years past. With new wood on this log and it being wet and slippery the new anchor was much appreciated and made for a safer drop rappelling.

Comment: What an amazing place! Went in loaded for bear, being new to PNW canyons. Overkill, but helped us proceed confidently Anchors were all great, and beta spot on.

Comment: Great day as always. Did observe some spontaneous rockfall at the bottom of R4 coming down off the cliffs DCR onto the ledges above the pool. Signs of recent rockfall - use caution.
