Comments: My group universally hated this canyon. The bushwhack approach was the shittiest approach any of us had ever done. We may have been slightly off the gpx track but even if we weren't, the top section was thick bushwhacking through thorny bushes/shrubs. The route was steep and sketchy. At some points, we were using handfulls of ferns to prevent us from falling.

Approach aside, the canyon was still meh. Due to the recent fires, it was littered with logs. More logs than lumber mill. Cannot emphasize enough how many logs were in this canyon. The whole experience went from shitty approach to scrambling over, around, and through logs, and not in a fun way.

Finally after a long time of fighting the shitty approach and log obstacles, you get to a few decently fun rappels. However, they were not worth the effort.

I imagine that if we took the longer approach and not the "shortcut", we would have had a different outlook.

Comment: WOW- what a ride…took the East Fork bushwhack approach, will update beta, took about an hour. The 2 tier 1st drop is quite nice. We broke it up into 2 raps. The 2nd is like a baby dry creek falls! Inflow rap free hanging for about 60 ft! The creek walk after that was over run with logs and fire debris, the rocks are super slippery. The crux rap RM2 is great, being able to climb under the roster tail is cool. Watch out for the log across the bottom of the rap. Stripped most the old anchor webbing from the run and ghosted some of it. Set a new anchor for RM1 and RM4. Left the two webbing anchor for RM2. Now is a great time to run it! As to be expected, there is quite a bit of rock and log hopping post fire but thankfully not largely effecting the quality of the rappels.

Comment: This is now one of my favorite canyons in the gorge. The waterflow was very high but there were no swimmers and no hydraulics at the bottom of the drops. The last section is committing and cold but completely amazing with the tall walls, the turns in the canyon, and the high flow waterfalls. Rappels require comfort with rappelling to the side of raging waterfalls and directly in the flow. We rebuilt all the anchors but the deadman will likely need to be re-built on the 2nd to last rappel. The approach is steep but don't let that deter you from this amazing canyon! I'd strongly advise against going into this canyon if the waterflow is any higher.

Comment: We hiked up to the base of the falls and found that the water flow was about 2x more than the picture in canyoneeringnorthwest.com beta. Since the flow seemed strong and the canyon had a reputation for being slotty, we decided to run Mist Falls and Munra instead.

Comment: Bushwhack route makes two hours seem like four. Low snow-pack and unseasonably warm weather made this trip possible.
