Comments: This canyon has 1 maybe 2 raps. Right before the mandatory rap is a sketchy-ish downclimb which with the recent moisture was a little slippery so we ghosted from a solid tree LDC. The mandatory rap is quite fun! Careful with your rope toss as ours ended up in a tree, though easily retrievable once on the ledge at the end of the free hang which is about 10ft up from the end of the rap. We elected to do the long approach and exit because we wanted to hike. I don’t recommend this unless you are looking for an enjoyable day of hiking. If you just want to rap, it is *a lot* of hiking for just one (albeit fun) rap. If you choose the long approach, be careful cutting through the meadow when you take a left off the road. Forest service has planted baby trees to rehabilitate the fire damaged area and they are protected by small plastic cones. Take care not to trample any of them! It was really windy today but we still had a fun time! The narrows are really fun to slide down on your butt. There are currently a few shallow pools which are easily avoidable.

Comment: Some frozen shallow pools, otherwise dry. Rock is incredibly slick along the watercourse. Time reflects a loop, taking the slab route to the Elden summit and then descending from the head of the canyon.

Comment: Sneak approach involved some fun scrambling and took about 45min. Another 45min in canyon and 15min exit. The polished rock was quite slippery and the one rappel had a light trickle. As others have mentioned, mind the trees below the anchor and don’t blindly toss your rope. Throughout the approach and descent, the Committee Fire could be seen burning in the distance.

Comment: mapped out the sneak route which drops in above the slickrock (upcanyon of that point isn't all that interesting) and added that to the kml. raining the last few days so it was flowing with some water which was fun and made the waterfall even prettier. the slickrock is slippery when wet.

Comment: Took the Westside slab route up for an extra challenge. Very brushy. Canyon was fun, slick rock section was good for sliding. Replaced the webbing on the two bolts LDC. There are bolts about 40-50 ft back from the edge in the water course, not sure who's using those but the pull looks difficult.

Comment: The bolts LDC looked good but webbing was a bit crispy. There was a quicklink on the lower bolt so I rapped off that. Would probably be better to replace the webbing for redundancy in the future. Don't throw your rope/bag out too far. My bag got stuck in a tree ~20 ft off the ground (not visible from the top), which was annoying!
