Comments: We primarily went into this drainage to do some touch up on the R1 anchor but couldn't resist heading down, even though we didn't set up a shuttle. Soooooo, we just ascended back up our rope instead.

R1 isn't a bad gauge of conditions; if R1 anchor is covered by water when you get there, it's probably best to head home and let the CFS diminish. You could rig up an alternate anchor to the side of the flow for R1 but that's a harder task for R2.

Both anchors are bolted and looking great. R1 has 2 yuuuuuge bolts and a chain, no webbing needed. R2 has 2 bolts and is equalized with webbing and a quick link.

Many thanks to the group that installed the anchors for this route and published it on Ropewiki. It'll be an amazing trip when flowing!

*We also got a delightful, if not surprising, encounter with an excellent lil' Blacktail Rattler. Keep your eyes peeled for them in the drainage. (photo attached)

Comment: I went late afternoon to bounce the drops, caver style. Rigged both, rappelled and ascended. The hike to and from R1 took me 1hr each way. Once in the drainage where the elevation drops, the downclimbs and scenery gets really pretty. Both rappels are fun, the big one is free hanging for half of it! Unfortunately the big drop does land you in a large healthy patch of poison ivy. I somehow avoided any rashes from it. This route is West facing so perfect evening run to watch the sunset over sedona cliffs, very picturesque! Cant wait to return when it is flowing!
