Comments: Absolutely stunning route! Beautiful outlandish coloring and striping embedded in smoothed over limestone. I was truly blown away, never seen such an artistic pallet of colored rock anywhere else!

We approached from the bottom following Typhon's approach. After topping out past Typhon, you can easily walk right into Erebus wash on the left. This option is steep and arduous with some loose rock but not too terrible. It took us 2.75hrs to arrive at R1. We all agreed it was preferable to 3hrs of shuttling and 1000' of scree downclimb...

Canyon is gorgeous and keeps getting better the further you go! Most rappels are sheer and enjoyable down sculpted chutes or smooth colorful walls. Tons of potentially spicy downclimb problems that an inexperienced group could eat up time meat anchoring down, we had no issues, rock quality is super solid!

We eventually ran into another group of 8 which we feel slowed us down considerably. Not a bad thing! Time to sit and zoom in on the impressive rock pallet!

At the end there is a final downclimb that someone added a pair of bolts to. These should be removed...

Comment: This is a nice and scenic canyon for the Black Range, Death Valley standard. There is some interesting hydrothermal activity within the rock layers. Anchors have been replaced. There is a nice narrow section with smooth meandering fluted rock.

Comment: Great fast run. There are still a few anchors that could be rebuilt because we chose to meet anchor/downclimb. One has 3 slings and it was the only one that looks like it hadn't been replaced by the previous group, but was solid so we backed it up with meet and used it. One of the drops has a black and red webbed chockstone anchor. It's old. We left it because for us it was a down climb, but we also felt removing it would be unwise as someone else may wish to see where and how it was made if they didn't understand the down climb option. But it is old webbing.

Several rappels have more than one anchor choice, so look around. Beautiful colored rock about 3/4 of the way down. Just stunning colors.
