Comments: After camping on Greenwater Valley Road, we dropped into the canyon from Dante's View just as twilight was beginning. A bit loose and steep at first but not too bad. Anchors were in mostly good condition. Reached the main branch of Hades after 3:45 and the canyon changed character significantly to be much flatter. Most anchors were in good condition.

Comment: It was sub-freezing and windy at Dante's View and going down the scree slope, but quickly the wind died down and the temp warmed up a bit. I would have given the conditions as "amazing" if not for the cold start. We rebuilt most of the anchors (special challenges), either testing/inspecting old webbing, replacing old webbing or backing it up (for a few raps). We used a FiddleStick on some anchors because of potential rope pull issues. If the webbing seems short, we likely used a FiddleStick there. Although it was obvious that no party has run Hades since this summer's heavy rains, most of the anchor were "salvageable", meaning that they were not totally gone, but rather buried in gravel.

Comment: Replaced about 1/3 of the webbing before reaching Hades direct. Many will need replacement webbing soon. The show stoppers are the rappels right before entering Hades direct. Used lots of ropes to keep the team moving efficiently.

Comment: Spectacular, super-fun canyon. All the anchors in good condition. We replaced some older webbing in the Dante's fork. All webbing in Hades was shiny and new. However we stuck our ropes on Hades 11 (the 200' foot staged rap) due to darkness and the fact that we could not easily see the pull line path. We were able to recover enough to get down the next rap, but stuck again on the pull. We spent the night in the canyon to wait for light to see the problem, and then were able to unstick the next morning and finish the canyon. Enjoy our ropes, whoever runs this route next :)

Comment: Awesome run, even though the air was cold and sometimes quite windy in the canyon. The upper canyon mostly has webbing from last season and it's showing its Sun bleaching; we only replaced 2 pieces that were rigged poorly; all others were bounce tested; suggest next group replace all of them. Once past the junction with Hades (Main) all the webbing was new from this season. There were a few puddles down lower; we managed to get the rope wet when it fell into 2 of them. We found some bowling balls shell pieces and the core; took out plastic pieces, but left the plaster core. Also watch out for the open mine shaft before the first rappel!

Comment: Lives up to the hype. Excellent canyon. Came with a bowling ball (now destroyed), a frisbee (currently lost around rappel 10), a golfball (also lost), and some part of an airplane or futuristic sensory deprivation tank for small pets (still there).

There were by our count 31 rappels. We did in fact keep a very detailed list of rap lengths but at this current moment I am withholding that information unless you paypal me 5 dollar and 53 cents.

Comment: Temporarily stuck a rope on Rap 10 in the first part of the canyon. May be good to extend that anchor further in the future to prevent that from happening.

Rap 11 in the second section posed an issue with the rope getting caught in a crack on the 2nd stage and preventing the walk from stage 1 to 2 from occurring. Otherwise super fun canyon! Could be done a lot faster with a smaller group and without the two issues noted above
