Comments: We took a very long time on this canyon because I'm recovering from Achilles tendon/bone spur surgery, and don't have strength or stabilizing muscles back yet. We took the alternate route (up from Fall Canyon, instead of up from the trail closer to the parking lot). In my state it was unpleasant.
The canyon has great views into Fall Canyon. It has sharp limestone, though, which I don't like in downclimbs and rappels. Not very polished.
It's worth doing if you're looking for a lazy rest day, or for an ambitious team to tack on after doing Black Void or another canyon that exits into Fall Canyon.
Not good for a team of only beginners, due to challenges with the anchor and exposure at R2.

Comment: Did a quick morning run of Hobbit while we were waiting for the rest of our group to reach the Titus canyon trailhead. By far my favorite canyon in the Grapevine mountains so far, and definitely would do again if I am looking for something short in this area.
The approach was surprisingly easy after doing Black Void the weekend before. The canyon is extremely steep and packs several drops and downclimbs into a very short distance. Looking down from the drop in is very impressive. We replaced an extremely sketchy hemp rope sling on the first rappel, but otherwise found the anchors to be in good condition.

Comment: We ran Hobbit as a second canyon after a leisurely run through Black Void. We had to build or replace most of the anchors as clearly nobody had run it in a while. This took longer than expected and we ended the last rappel in near-darkness. Fun canyon and worth taking seriously.

Comment: We installed 4 new anchors, and wrapped around a horn for one rappel. The canyon is decent, nothing bad, nothing spectacular.we went slow because it was our guests' first real canyon.
