Comment: Great canyon for beginners! There was a deep pool in between raps 2 and 3 that we had to go up and around and at the bottom of rap 3 there was a deep pool so again we went up and around and found a spot to easily down climb since no one wanted to get wet. Anchors all looked good except the webbing was a little sun worn on the last rap. Just to be extra safe we replaced it. A few spots where you have to scramble/climb on the way out that might be difficult for someone not used to that but it was nothing super crazy or too tall. Beautiful the whole way!

Comment: Very pretty, fun, and super easy to access.

The rappels are easy and fun throughout. There were alot of deep pools that required some finesse to climb around. Lots of beautiful rock! We replaced webbing at last anchor.

The exit is super fun and engaging with lots of class 4 and some class 5 moves on crumbly rock required. Definitely not very beginner friendly.

This is a really great route to combine with Parker or another shorty in the area. Definitely a must do!

Comment: Rained all morning prior to the 8A drop into Hog. Enough rain to create light flow in the canyon which subsided quickly after we began the descent. All anchors in good shape, and I set a new anchor to protect the short boulder problem in the exit drainage. This anchor can be used in combination with a progress capture or friction hitch system to provide a top belay for less experienced climbers. This same top belay technique can also be used on the final climb at the very end of the exit drainage- the team lead can take the chossy shelf traverse out, and rig a top belay off of a bolt located behind a large boulder upstream of the water course immediately after exiting the technical portion of the drainage. The bolt and hanger are painted brown and not immediately obvious.

Comment: On the exit is best to climb directly up the canyon rather than trying to climb out the side. The wall on the left when facing up canyon looks like the easiest way out but it is an extremely chossy climb.

Comment: Time is car to car for First Water, Hog, and Phog. Two hours per canyon. Shallow pools in Hog, all avoidable. CEM’d off a tree RDC at R1 to bypass a large, guided group. All webbing was in good condition. Fun climbing on exit, still plenty of loose rock.

Comment: A beautiful but short canyon with a noteworthy 2nd rap. Reminiscent of the views in Parker Canyon with respectably sized spires towering above you and smooth, colorful red and blue slick-rock along the canyon floor. The canyon was surprisingly lush this time of year, although with the exception of a few small, easily avoidable pools there was no water. All anchor webbing is in good condition, but when I return to this canyon I'll likely extend a few of the anchors beyond ledges to facilitate cleaner rigging. Turn-off for the ascent is immediately LDC of the final rap. Noted difficulty rating is due to the climbing required to exit the canyon, which I consider at least 4th class - maybe low 5th, depending on the line you choose. The last obstacle consists of a few staggered ledges with loose rock (watch those holds) and some exposure that may be discomforting for those without prior climbing experience.

Comment: Fresh water trickling down canyon. Was nice. We enjoyed the series of little scramble-climbs exiting up the drainage. You can escape this canyon at any point. There's a steep, scree-filled crack LDC of the base of the big rap that allows fairly easy entrance or exit to the canyon at that point.

Webbing at anchors looked good. Rope pulls easy.

Comment: A few avoidable pools. Was able to do it with only 3 rappels, rest were downclimbable. Exit requires a little exposed climbing, more than other canyons in area. Worthwhile quality canyon, not a destination canyon. All anchors looked in good shape.

Comment: Totally dry except one tiny pool in the rock bed; Beautiful canyon with colorful rock, towering spires, and flowering cactus.
