Comment: One tiny spot of avoidable water that is only about foot deep. Anchors in decent shape.

When we got to the last drop the anchor, rather than being rigged to the alligator, was built on a chock stone wedged in a crack up on the cliff band. This, 1 changed the location of the rappel, and 2 was not wrapped around the chock stone securely as the webbing was loose and sliding off the stone in places. We took the webbing off and since it was new and there was a lot of it but built a courtesy anchor on the alligator. The webbing didn't go all the way the the edge but by standing way back the pull was fairly clean. An additional length of webbing should be added to extend it to the edge.

Comment: Fun, quick canyon to warm up on. Semi-keeper and small hallway at the end had a little bit of water from recent rain, but was easy to stem over.

Comment: Canyon had very little water in it and all of the group managed to stay dry from the knees up.

WATER AT RAPPELS There is water in the canyon, most avoidable, but some spots only avoidable with skill, making risky jumps, or if someone gets feet wet and caries others across.

The rap under the arch has water at the bottom but only about shin deep at the most and can be avoided. Though beginners will likely need to be pulled across to avoid the water.

The slide directly under the arch does have shin deep water. One member of our group made a risky jump and avoided it--not recommended. Others in our group just slid down, got their feet wet, and helped others with a partner catch and then a carry across the water. One person, howerver, slid down and slipped and got completely soaked.

After this spot there is a short pool that can be stemmed over. The pool is a swimmer and one person--thinking it was only ankle deep found out the hard way it was a swimmer. This section can also be navigated by means of an anchor perched high up on the wall Right-Down-Canyon. This is off a marginal solution pocket, though getting to it is a bit sketch as it is sloping and sand covered. The person in our group who went up to it and rigged it is a capable canyoneer had a challenge not slipping. We used this for those who didn't want to stem over the pool and instead felt more comfortable doing a rope-assisted traverse on the slope above the pool.

The final rappel has a pool only foot deep. You can either go through it and get wet, or do a sort-of-risky partner assist right next to the edge. We did this with on person in our group but everyone else opted to just walk through the water.

ANCHORS All anchors in the canyon in good shape with new webbing--even the ones off of solution pockets. The final rappel has been bolted--the long piece of webbing off the boulder that is typically the anchor wasn't even present. There is a big debate about these new anchors. Apparently the BLM says no anchors in this area--plus that is the North Wash ethic. Some are saying they plan to go removed these anchors soon so they may not be there for long. While I generally support not bolting, this being a trade route canyon, it does make this anchor much improved.

Comment: Big group, moved with medium efficiency. Avoidable water, first rap I did a small pendulum to swing around the water. Then the stem had avoidable water.

Comment: A really great short canyon with a huge bang for your buck! Super cool dissolution pockets on the short but intense approach. A couple nice large rappels. The arch room is really fantastic!! Lots more dissolution pockets throughout canyon make the walls look organic and oozing! One of the raps was easily downclimbed then we did an easy stem over a pool of water. Nothing super tight, mostly open canyon. A fantastic finisher canyon on our way out of town after an awesome Northwash weekend!!

Comment: Lovely canyon. All anchors are in good condition, including the last one which has been moved from the watercourse to a large rock RDC. The canyon is largely dry, with the exception of the usual semi-keeper pothole which isn't anywhere close to full.

Comment: We were very careful to climb around the last pool as the ice would have broken had we stepped on it. The slick rock approach to the anchor was super slippery with ice and a thin layer of snow. The rest of the canyon was easy and pretty.

Comment: Usual dry conditions. Water was found in the pothole, but this is avoidable by stemming. This canyon is pretty beginner friendly, but the stemming problem to go over the pothole may present as intimidating to those with little stemming with exposure experience.
