Comments: 12 hours rim to rim descending to the river and ascending back up the fixed ropes - though this is a difficult day that won't work for everyone. I ended up bringing four ropes: 130, 70, 60 and 40 and needed them all, plus a few slings for hand lines to help get back up a few of the downclimbs. I was solo and maybe being a bit extra cautious, but I felt like I needed all of them. I used the 40 foot rope (tied to the 130) to extend the anchor for the first rappel - which is a tricky one. Dead man anchors built in the wet gravel in the hallway before the drop just fell apart when tested, I ended up using a small pothole at the beginning of the hallway and filling it with rocks on top of the anchor to stabilize it. A longer rope of perhaps 200 feet would allow you to potentially find a better anchor at the top of the initial 20 foot drop into the hallway. The anchor for the second drop goes right through a chockstone overhang which can be very difficult (perhaps impossible) to overcome when ascending if you don't know a few tricks about aid climbing - use extreme caution. It may be possible to descend/ascend in a different spot to avoid this problem, but there wasn't anything obvious. After this drop is another of about 15 feet that I used a short rope to manage.
The creek was flowing lightly (no wading, no pools), the bypass at the first drop is comparatively easy (though steep and loose) expect to do some short sections of exposed climbing along the way in other areas, though.
