Comment: completed the route in 3.5 hours. A new anchor has been placed at r1. R1 and R2 were good. we exited RDC after R2 and bypassed the most scenic yet troublesome rapp. we rapped off the pitons on the approach arete and into the black cave. This anchor seemed to have little impact on the rock and vegetation, and we thought it was fun. Immediately after we noticed and older r4 anchor into the next gully below, but decided to bypass it and connect with the trail.
If you do rapp down the scenic chute climb out to pitons for black cave rappel. Great run!

Comment: Beta has been updated. Last part of approach pitch still has handline in place. Lead this pitch with handline then belayed up partner. The last couple moves to the anchors could be spicy for those with little to no climbing experience even with a handline. Handline still in good shape.

Comment: The approach pitch currently has a solid handline in place. it is light blue climbing rope tied with a figure 8. this means no gear was required for the approach. Please use this handline lightly and move the knot/ friction point after use. An etrier may be helpful for those who may need extra aid. Its really only some exposed scrambling, and 2 mantle moves to the anchors with well established holds.
R3. An anchor was not set on r3 we fiddle sticked off of a tree. If adding an anchor please use neutral colored webbing (ex. black, tan, rust ) and do not extend to where it is obtrusive to others. Keep minimal. After r3 scramble up other side. Please Do Not rapp out of crack or damage plant life or black cave. There is an old piston that can be used to rapp the mini arete. we downclimbed this portion and it was easy and straightforward. Time includes scramble to summit and first descent.
