Comments: We paired this with Quartzville for a full day in canyons! The new approach seems like the way to go! we got a prius almost all the way up. You'll leave with pin stripes so bring your beater car! All the anchors were in decent shape. Plan your pulls carefully, there are a few places you could pinch a rope, but we had no problems. There was still some water in the canyon but it was very beginner friendly.

Comment: Parked the car on the upper classic road and hiked in rather than risk serious pinstriping. Road walk is easy. At the far end, cross the clearing and look for a bit of a trail that heads down through the brush to ultimately drop into the creek. Snacked on huckleberries along the way. Below R0, the creek is a bit of a mess, but gets better on reaching the confluence. Fun rappel into the chasm as always. Cleaned up the R3 station. Use caution on the downclimbs below. Hiked out through the narrows and headed for Quartzville Creek.

Removed fictitious 'shortcut route' from the map. There's a huge cliff wall over there.

Comment: The shuttle routes are overgrown. We couldn't find the hike in approach. We hiked up the creek and did free solo climb up the technical section of the creek. Lost is pretty like always.

Comment: Lost is open for the season and in great shape. Water flow is slightly pushy in the slot section but wouldn't be bad except for a nearly hidden log standing vertically underwater in the waterfall. One member of the group slipped and suffered a signifanct foot entrapment requiring other team members to stabilize the victims head above the water while working to free the stuck foot. The same log then stuck the rope during the pull. Rope was abandoned and the group finished on a spare rope.

Comment: Lost is pretty, we did the full canyon. There was lots of creek walking and climbing over brush and logs. Highly recommend starting at the confluence. The full canyon is high pay to play.

Comment: We drove up the fire road as far as we could and then hiked the rest of the way in to the regular drop-in at the confluence. Cut about a mile off the driving until we couldn't reasonably move logs anymore. Lost is still in great condition with waterfalls trickling in from the sides of the canyon, but flow was down noticeably from the TR two weeks ago. There's no anchor for R3 so we toggled off the giant logs. The narrows are beautiful!

Comment: Walked up the hillside UCR to 44.5913568, -122.1071919. This put us right above the fun stuff. New webbing on R1,R2. Cut out old webbing in R3 and ghosted it. Fun day and be careful on the log pileup below R3 as it was unstable.

Comment: Hiked up the fireroad down the road from the exit (my usual approach to go straight to the confluence). The winter of 2020 left an extreme amount of deadfall trees on the fireroad. Freshly sawn trees showed that it is actively being cleared, but the deadfall continued in the forest down the slope and even cluttered up the confluence which used to be completely open. No significant deadfall downstream of the confluence however. Water was very low and several people downclimbed R2 (100') without a rope.

Comment: DCed R1. Be careful not to hurt the moss.

R2 has a wedged log down about 50' (this rap is not 100'). Easy rope entrapment on the pull (found a piece of cut rope left behind here). Best to pull and bag and then carefully DC the chute to the small pool above the final drop. Anchor off logs for R3 or carefully shimmy down fallen log.

At exit of little corridor DC/slide off rock into pool. Last "logjam" is pretty casual DCL

Comment: Enjoyable romp. This would not be worth doing without the shuttle. We drove up the fire road (a bit scratchy on the truck) most of the way to the fallen tree pin. Great turn around spot, and with good map/GPS skills, found a relatively brush free entrance below R0. Flow was a not high, but was still playful enough be be a fun afternoon romp. The logjam below R3 is easiest to get around at DCR.

Comment: Seems to be some new woody debris in the upper tributary since I last ran it in 2015. The main stem is pretty much unchanged. Logjam is easier to rappel now. Always fun to visit the narrows. Combined with a visit to Pure Hate Gorge 30min away down FR 11. Time includes 2hr road hike.

Comment: I took a group of my friends for their first canyoneering trip through Lost. Absolutely one of my favorite canyons thus far. We had a blast and made pretty good time, too! Removed tattered webbing and cord and replaced it with new.

Comment: Fantastic canyon. The road is blocked by a fallen tree to the drop in spot. The drop in is a steep and brushy hike/tumble downhill to the river. First rappel comes quick, then it's a long but wonderful hike on bedrock creek bed all the way to the amazing canyon. After part one of 2 rappels into the canyon, be repaired to stand chest deep in ice cold water setting up the second part off the snag lodged in between the canyon walls. Damn the last bit is beautiful!
