Comments: Great little half day route, conveniently located on the way back to Seattle from Packwood.

Had a surprising amount of (fun!) flow given how low everything else in the area is currently.

Exit is a bit crappy (scree and dirt). Placing a fixed line down the exit while hiking up would be a great idea.

Comment: Great1/2 day canyon and all anchors in good condition. Creeped the rope on R1 after seeing some rope wear. After reviewing the quick exit at the bottom of R5, it appeared very loose/steep and had risk from rock fall. We took the 20 minute leisure stroll down the creek until it meets with the trail. Significantly less work that hiking up to the trail only to walk back down the elevation required. Much cleaner, safer, and less effort via creek exit in my opinion. I would guess the quick exit really doesn't save much time.

Comment: Approach was surprisingly easy: nice relatively flat trail the American River (knee-deep wade), then follow gently-sloping horse trail up to the top. Very pretty creek with some fun rappels. Nice half-day outing. Beware loose rock - you may be better off rappelling drops than downclimbing. Nice half-day destination in the area.

Comment: This is a great canyon! We decided to run this after seeing that Skookum Falls was merely a trickle. Flows are okay for those looking to get into Class C canyoneering as some waterfalls have low/high flow routes. Rappels are fairly straight forward and anchors are in good condition.
