Comment: Swimmer at the bottom of R1 but easy to climb out. Did the full descent. Pothole with arch was pretty full and the arch was submerged. Partner assist or swimming under the arch work.

Comment: Great day in MDH! We did the standard canyon first and breezed through it. Water was quite low and we only encountered 1 obstacle we could classify as a pothole (the arch pothole), and escape was trivial. A dead man and webbing around the arch are currently set for R2 and R3. No water in the rest of the canyon.
Afterwards we played around in the pothole fork. Water was low and the first big pothole was in big keeper mode, requiring a 10-12 ft lift from ground under the water to top of rim. We didn't go down further than this. Time and rating does not include this messing around.

Comment: Took an alternate entrance and thus bypassed R1 and the first potholes. Found the last pothole (after the sneak exit - before the final rappel to the river) in keeper mode, with the bottom of the arch that you are supposed to swim through 4' above water level - bring your creative problem solving skills!

Comment: First pothole after big rappel is in keeper mode. Very difficult keep to get out of. No way to stand in pothole, except awkwardly at end. Very slippery and muddy to climb out of. Was able to get out using climbing grappling hook in crack on other side after 30-40 attempts. Pot shots not useful, crack is very far throw, and everything in front is downsloping and slippery into pothole. Bring your best tosser. Lower section was accomplished with sand trap. Water in first rap in lower section was deep swimmer. Good webbing at last rappel into Escalante River.

Comment: Did the big headwall entrance rappel and finished in the Escalante River. The canyon was completely dry except for the pothole with the arch in between the last two rappels, which was a swimmer, briefly. Most of us didn't bother putting on wetsuits for it. A deadman anchor was already present at the entrance rappel, and also at the rappel above the arch, although we used a sandtrap there instead which works great. A webbing anchor was already present on the arch for the final rappel.
Road requires high clearance; the worst part is the last ~0.25 miles or so.
