Comments: Possible first descent? No anchors were encountered. Some very nice bedrock. Lower Langfield is more impressive than upper Langfield Falls -- sort of a smaller sibling of Little Niagara. Nice little jaunt.

Comment: Nice short little canyon. My partner and I rapped R1 several times getting practice in and out of the flow. As we are both beginners with just under ten canyons each this is a great place to build our skills and confidence on rappelling. There were several visitors at the falls and we continually asked if people wanted us to remove our rope so they could take unspoiled pictures of the waterfall but everyone we spoke with was more entertained watching us.
Watch out for rockfall on R1 as the face is sedimentary rock with lots of exposed round rocks that work free very easily. The rest of the canyon was short and sweet. We rigged all rappels with retrievable anchors except the 50-foot rappel at the end. My arborists friction saver kept hanging up on pre-rig test pulls so I added a new webbing anchor on a large root DCR. The logs at the bottom were not a problem as long as rope length is correct, too much will definitely get tangled up at the bottom. There was a logging operation in the area of the original beta exit route, so we climbed straight (arduous climb) up as soon as possible DCR and then followed the canyon rim back to the top of R1.

Comment: Fun little canyon. I (regrettably) opted to skip the first main falls since there were tourists present, but the lower falls still made it worth a visit. I think I exited the water course a bit too early on the scramble out and never found the elk trail that is described in the write up.
