Comments: The rappels were completed in 4 hours. We came up Telephone Canyon and took an additional 4 hours.

The anchors are all in great shape. Some of the webbing must have been recent replaced with shiny new red color webbing. What used to be a downclimb or by-passable dry waterfall between R2 and R3 is now a rappel. We counted a total of 7 rappels (7 anchors = 7 rappels). Small puddles of water that were easily avoided.

Coming up Telephone Canyon was nice and good, until the last part, just before getting to the top. In the map, towards the end, when making a right turn at the saddle, you are going up a class 3 ridge but then you have a class 4 (4+) traverse just below the cliff bands. Loose and steep. Long drops. Be very careful and test EVERY handhold and foothold. Those rocks become loose.

Comment: All anchors in great shape. Cairn anchors on some of the optional downclimbs are built to be easily inspectable. Webbing in good condition. Time reflects no shuttle vehicle, and includes a pretty lengthy soak at Gold Strike, which really made for an incredible combo.

Comment: Large group of 14 that included one first timer to rappelling and canyoneering. Experience level for the group included from beginner to intermediate and advanced. Mostly intermediate. A fun, social outing with all the seriousness of canyoneering.

Total time includes a 30-45 minutes of snack break after coming out of the canyon, before starting the hike up. Did not go to the hot springs.

All anchors are in good condition. All, but one, anchors were replaced by a group of 4 that started about 30 minutes ahead of us.

Comment: Leisurely day in Motorcycle. We walked the 1.5 miles instead of doing a car shuttle. This canyon was pretty enjoyable and was a nice contrast to it's trashed neighbor, Goldstrike.

Comment: did not have 4WD so hiked up for 1.5 hrs. First 2 rappels were great. lots of walking and down limbs were rough so we ended up with 7 rappels. LOT of walking for amount of rappels. will not repeat unless 2 solid 4WD vehicle.

Comment: Pretty easy canyon with an option to visit hot springs on the way back. Best season is winter

Comment: After meeting at a couple of spots in Vegas, we parked Jimmy's car at the new Goldstrike parking area and piled into the back of Steve's truck. We parked at the last junction leaving only a short walk to the drop-in. Rigging only one pitch at a time, the first two took some time to complete, but no one was in a rush allowing everyone to meet each other. A lengthy wash walk followed - the continuous helicopters quite annoying (maybe due to end of holidays?). The actual canyon was better than I remembered. Mira hurt her foot on the way out. This contributed to us not hiking down to the river and hot springs. Disappointing to see all the trash and graffiti in Gold Strike. Once back at the TH, Steve and Jimmy went to get the other car.

I did this canyon last time I was in Vegas as part of a float trip down the Black Canyon.

Comment: Started at the Goldstrike TH and hiked the road to the canyon, back up to TH in 7.5 hours. Went down Goldstrike almost to the river. Constant helicopter traffic is a sore spot here, have to yell over it just to have a conversation. Notes in the beta refer to Goldstrike as a highlight of this route, I couldn't disagree more. Motorcycle has great narrows and really fun downclimbs, Goldstrike has deep canyon walls, but no real great narrows and is full of graffiti, trash and drunk people.

Comment: R1 has pretty red/brown/yellow on the walls, various sharp edges that require rope protection, quite a few people on the exit hike

Comment: Fun canyon, but there is a lot of walking. All the anchors were in good shape. A couple deer? skeletons can be seen while going through the canyon.
