Comments: Munra Creek on the Rocks... or, more accurately, on the ice! Dropped in right above R1 and descended from there. Plenty of thermal insulation, microspikes, and hot tea for the win. Descending in winter conditions is a very different animal with potential for icefall, slipping, hypothermia, etc. Even simple creek-walking can be treacherous if you should punch through the ice and twist an ankle on a hidden rock. Fortunately, conditions were great today with some amazing rappels down the ice -- and funky "ice volcano" formations at the foot of the falls that one had to climb out of occasionally. One rappel took us through an "ice cave" under some logs draped with icicles. Briars seem to be overtaking the lower creek. Replaced goofy extended rope anchor on R2. R3 should probably be bolted; maybe R6. A super fun day out!

Comment: Ran into a team of contractors working on the powerlines on the hike up who were awesome and let us continue on by after assurances that we would not be coming back this way. Dropped in at R1; might be good to do some work putting a use trail in here to avoid erosion. Water levels were great. Hiking between them is still a brushy mess. There are a few big melting snow drifts here and there on the descent, but they won't be around for long. The dead snag being used for an anchor on R6 is not awesome; good candidate for bolting. Large rock creek center looks ideal. Next time! Also: attempting to run the flow from the final rappel currently creates a natural redirect on a poor small tree which waggles around crazily and likely will come down on someone sooner or later. A redirect at the top here would be very nice.

Comment: Great day in Munra with slightly above moderate flows. The bushwhacking was not bad with all the leaves off of the tress and vines. The creek walking requires care due to loose rock and down limbs but there was only one section of very dense vines. Raps were all very good and anchors where good.

Comment: First time back to Munra since the fire. The waterfalls are unchanged and are still fun, but hiking between them is now full of brush, briars, loose rock, and fallen logs. Expect to move much more slowly along the creek if unused to bushwhacking. It's going to be years or even a decade before this place stabilizes. Waterflow was fun and splashy, but beware loose rocks on a number of the drops. Couple people on the team got hit by small rocks mid-rappel, likely knocked loose by the rope above. Packed out a workman's hardhat we found in the creek. A good time was had by all.

Comment: It appeared a group may have run this before the 777 opened up. We were aware of the rescue from 5/21 and found items that would’ve been reflective of a rescue. Grabbed 7-8 carabiner, 60m of canyonprime, and a beat to hell iPhone. Anchors are good to go with the exception of the 3rd last. We double lined down a vinemaple near the lip… it was right at 100ish feet. The last rap appears to have some boulders that could be in play but we will thank the Eagle Crek formation for keeping them glued in at this point. Doesn’t hurt to see if this changes in the future.

Comment: Flow was perfect, fun but nothing dangerous. Pretty warm day and I was fine with a 3mm shorty and rain jacket. Definitely more debris than last year, the part between the drop-in and the first rappel is particularly slow going. After that there are some annoying spots but nothing too terrible. Most of the drops didn't have anchor material in place, we put up webbing anchors on all drops except the last one.

Comment: The canyon is now cluttered with logs and branches due to the Winter of 2016-2017. Webbing from this canyon was removed entirely from previous groups and our team rebuilt a few webbing anchors and used a fiddlestick (where appropriate). Flow was an exciting moderate high but most rappels skirt the side of the waterfall (rappeller has choice to go into full force). Great day! Weather was the typical bipolar April with some sun, pouring rain, and misty rain.

Comment: Flow was unchallenging but enough to get splashed on the rappels (no swimming, probably avoidable wading up to knee deep or so). We had wetsuits but probably would have been okay with just rain jackets given that it was a warm day.

Comment: Our plans to descend East Fork Dry Creek were thwarted by high waterflow and other compounding factors, so we decided to visit Munra Creek. Waterflow was moderate, and we had a fun trip! We did some gardening and cleaned up the rigging at R4; it looked like some new debris (logs, brush, rocks) had made its way to the area. Participants: Jake, Jesse, Michelle, Tiffanie

Comment: We decided to run Munra once we found out that Dog Creek was running too high. In a half a mile, Munra offers many rappels where you will get completely drenched. Flow is ideal and appropriate for canyoneers with > moderate experience with Class C canyons. Fun canyon!
