Comments: 10.4 hours was for both Nerf Herder and Pine Canyon (Arroyo Seco). The entry drainage had a moderate amount of bushwhacking but the bushwhacking in the main drainage was only light most of the time. There were many wading-depth pools, but they are almost all avoidable for clever and skilled canyoneers. The trail in the Arroyo Seco at the exit of this canyon seems in great condition.

Comment: One of the worst bushwhacking experiences we have ever experienced. As of May 2018, copious amounts of poison oak and every other native plant thoroughly choke this canyon. Other than the final sequence of 3 okay waterfalls there was maybe 500 feet of enjoyable creek walking on exposed creekbed. As a bonus for our troubles were also attacked by some aggressive bees despite our best effort to sneak past their hive. The best part of the whole experience was escaping the canyon into the Arroyo Seco which was as beautiful of parts of Eaton Canyon at its best. I would recommend just hiking up the Arroyo seco as a far more enjoyable means of gaining access to the final waterfalls in Nerf Herder but we discovered on our hike out that the area is actually closed to hiking. The only way I would ever repeat this canyon is right after a fire cleared it up, or in 10-15 years when the canopy is big enough to hopefully create some open space around the creekbed.
