Comments: Trip started out as a 2 team outing but a trip hazard early on caused one teammate to abort the mission. We used old tracking to help keep us on the path but since the Miriam Fire in 2018, the thorns, brush, and deadfall has made the 4.75 mile, 800 foot climb a bit more difficult each time. All historic jumps go. Added bolts at the last sequence with a traverse line to safely reach the anchor. It’s not a fully 100% must to have a drysuit but you’d have to move quickly, have a small, team, and not mess around. Drysuits are highly recommended.

Comment: A memorable trip with some special challenges. We ran this canyon at approximately 20% higher flow than normal/moderate conditions. The hydraulic hazards in the lower canyon were noticeably more difficult, including the R6 trap pool, and R11 crux sequence, the latter of which we bypassed entirely to avoid the high flow and inability to reach the anchors. Water and air temps were extremely cold. Pourovers were very pushy. It took us 6 hours in canyon, where average times are 3-4 hours. Definitely advanced A4+/A5 level conditions. We had fun but were certainly happy to get out of the canyon and get warmed up.
