Comment: All raps are bolted as of Dec 8, 2024. First rap is a single bolt and chain DCL. Rap 2 has a bolt on the DC right and left side. I prefer the DCR option as it’s a bit easier to get to and combines rap 2 into a single large 100 ft drop. The alternative 3rd rap at the end now has a single bolt below the juniper tree used before. A new bolt and chain has appeared in the water course DCR after the alternative rap that allows for one to skip the ledge traverse and go directly down. This optional rap is about 40 feet.

Comment: Slightly longer and much more interesting than U-Turn. The initial scramble up is tall and steep but very manageable and took about 20 min. The canyon was straightforward until we reached the end of the technical section right before the final drop down. The beta and GPX track suggest a route involving downclimbing and following a ledge down to the canyon bottom but this was not apparent to us and seemed sketchy. There was, however, a prominent bolted anchor on the ground to the right, between an edge and a large bush. Rappelling off it takes you down ~100ft to a large landing/ledge about 30ft up from the true canyon bottom that runs the length of the canyon wall. This is probably the “Alternative exit” mentioned in the RTR beta. We rappelled down there and wasted quite some time exploring ways to proceed before rigging off of one of the many natural anchor spots along this ledge and rappelling down to the true canyon bottom. From there we just rejoined the dry creekbed and followed it 0.25 miles to the Park Ave trail.

Comment: A bit difficult to walk around on exposed ledges and communicate today since the winds were 30mph. It just happened to be a high windy weekend during our visit. Otherwise the 3 canyons are very similar in access & technical with variations really being the rappel lengths and scenery. Also, be mindful on the last rappel and exit to avoid damage to the trails. GPS files are limited on accuracy so pay attention to the soil and stay on the marked trail and rock.
