Comments: Cleaned some loose rock and dead brush by R1. Between the angle of pull, brush, and narrow crack at R2, a double strand rap should be highly considered by the last man down. This time combined with Slingshot (reflected in time).

Comment: From start to exit drainage 1hr 45min.
R1 was short and sweet and landed in an incredibly scenic alcove. R2 was NOT straightforward, but was a unique 60' squeeze chimney that opens up at the bottom to another ledge. Drop down to first ledge about 10' and continue down crack. As mentioned it is very important to watch for loose rock at the top of the crack, Hang your bag below just your feet, and toss rope/ bag out of crack. Don't not use a biner block or retrievable anchor on the rappel. If you have any rope issues you can exit via the shelf Canyon Left and down the bushy slope. Pack light with a 100' rope and 100' pull cord and link up this route and sling shot for a fun half day adventure!

Comment: Time is for Paradise Cove and Chopper Drop loop car-to-car.
Highly recommend combining this canyon with others nearby. A very light trickle of water from monsoon rains. Webbing is in great condition and anchors are solid. R2 crack was a lot of fun but definitely not for larger folks. It gets tight in there. Photo taken from the base of R1. |
