Comments: There was rain the night before. The sandy ground soaked up most of the water with some slick spots on the rocks. The brush was growing pretty well but manageable and very moist. It did not look like any major flood came through the previous night as most vegetation is still standing.
We did the route going up the "Canyon-Descent" instead of the hiking route up the normal approach route. This required climbing up the 3 ladders and rock climbing the 2 rappels. Most of the time required 3 points of contact for the walls.
There are no anchors at two rappel locations. For fun, we decided to down climb the rappels on the way back down. It would be best for others to consider a strategy to build an anchor as the raps are pretty high with exposure.

Comment: With all the rain in the past month, this canyon has a little bit of water flow. I was able to keep my shoes dry although my rope got wet. I did some light gardening and pruned back some of the shrubbery and trees. The trail towards the end isn't too overgrown because the water and sand was able to wash out a path.
First anchor is in good shape with red webbing and a redundant runner around a tree. The second anchor is looking a little sun bleached but still OK. Will need to replace in the future. Overall, this is a great canyon for a quick canyoneering fix. | |||||||

Comment: Slow moving with 1 beginner new to rappelling. Nearly stepped on a baby rattle snake on the trail making our way to the approach. Encountered 1 more baby rattler on the approach to the first rappel. Rappel 1 (RDC) did not have any anchor in place that could be found anywhere. A webbing anchor was set up on the most stout vegetation we could find RDC (see photo attached). The 3 hour trip time included at least 30 minutes exploring exploring the mine (LDC).

Comment: Anchors are not at the two rappel locations. We did a R1 as a meat anchor with LAMAR down climb to a partner assist. We did R2 with a releasable as a hand line. For fun, up-climbed R2. Be gentle on the bush at these spots.
