Comments: 12 hours round trip from camp in West Canyon at the end of Humble Beginnings (Ocelot) including the first 70 foot drop - water was low so geometry for a water trap was good for this drop - the keeper at the bottom of this first rappel was a tricky climb on the left (three feet from water level to the lip; swimmer) that not everyone will be able to make. Potshots wouldn't likely be very helpful here; someone will have to climb/skirt the left rim to escape in this condition, though possibly a floating boost would do it. Several minor drops were overcome with meat anchor, then jumping/capturing. The one big keeper pothole was totally dry; around 12-15 feet deep and was defeated with potshots. Navigation en route is tricky and slow. Our group was able to complete all the obstacles in the canyon without leaving any anchors behind using water traps, sandtraps, and one retrievable fiddle stick rappel - this is not a great route to practice these techniques if you are not already familiar with them. Great, challenging day.
