Comment: Really great quick canyon with some neat features! We dropped packs at the approach, parked at the end of peninsula, and hiked back to the approach. The start of the canyon is wide open beautiful slick rock views. First rappel can be a a fun stemming downclimb over some beautiful pools. The big rap is very pretty forsure! Lots of neat rock features scattered throughout large sandy hallways. The river at the end was flowing nicely, impossible to keep feet dry. Did not continue down to french canyon exit. We found a small trail to exit back up to the truck fairly quickly and that was that! Recommend checking it out if in the area or possibly combining with Mineret Canyon nearby for a full day.

Comment: Time is car to car completing a loop by descending Rock Canyon, hiking Parunuweap, and exiting up French Canyon. Rock was completely dry until the narrow slot (can be bypassed LDC, but is worth checking out) and the riparian section at the end which both had some mud and shallow water. R1 and R3 were downclimbed. Somewhere between R4 and R5 was the mangled remains of an animal - possibly a sheep. Looked like the work of a mountain lion. Virgin River crossings were all under waist depth. We filtered water at a couple of the natural springs. Saw three snakes on this trip, including a baby rattlesnake.

Comment: 3.5 hours just for the canyon/exit - we approached via Parunuweap adding more time/miles. Potholes at the first rappel were waist deep after recent rains - this seems to be about as deep as they get. Potholes were the only water of consequence in the canyon. Lower narrows below the bypass just before the riparian section can be downclimbed if you choose. Anchors in great shape.
