Comments: Rubio is still flowing with plenty of water to soak you. The canyon rappels are very slippery with algae and special care must be taken while descending. We were surprised by all the sliding we were doing on Leontine and Thalehaha but had a great time. Be safe.

Comment: Rubio's water flow is still awesome (see pic)! Water temp has warmed up to 57F, and the algae slime is all over the wet rock now. Plenty of frogs are out now too. All anchors are in good shape.

Comment: Rubio is flowing pretty nicely and makes for interesting rappels. We wore our 3mm wetsuits that kept us warm throughout - especially in the wind tunnel that is Thalehaha Falls. With all the water in Rubio, the river path and waterfall walls are often slimy and slippery. Pay extra attention as it's easy to lose your footing. Leontine and R11 had us immersed in the waterfall which made for really fun rappels.

R9 was super slippery and dangerous with the high water flow. A new anchor was installed by someone DCR w/ tan webbing. This will keep you out of the flow.

R10 had an anchor DCR with green webbing that will keep you out of the water flow also.

Rated as special challenges because it's a whole different canyon with all the water (and slime) in it.

Comment: Water condition is great. All anchors looked good. The slide is not deep enough, and there are rocks all around it. Would not recommend it.

Comment: For Rubio, having class C water flow is "special challenges" :) The West fork is flowing more than the East fork; combined was solid class C flow directly in the water course. It did make for more excitement, especially in the Thalehaha waterfall (see pic). Anchors are all good; water temp 50F

Comment: Rubio is still flowing low class C (see pictures); there is force in the waterflow. The spray and wind at the bottom of the Thalehaha is intense, so don't hang around there and get cold. Even the wind from the Leontine is something. All the anchors are in good shape. It was a chilly day with drizzle on and off, so even in full body wetsuits with neoprene socks, gloves and hoods, we were not overdressed.

Comment: Rubio is still at the bottom end of class C (see pic)! The West Fork has more flow than the East Fork, which is surprising, making the flow more than double for the big Thalehaha waterfall. Water temp was 52F, so full wetsuits and neoprene gloves and socks were nice, especially in the Leontine shower. Anchors are fine. We retrieved 2 stuck ropes.

Comment: Awesome flow today from the big storm. Lots of snow higher up the East fork of Rubio but not really any in the canyon. There was a fair amount on parts of the approach 1-2". At the confluence of the two forks the flow picked way up and we got to have some Class C fun. My 4/3 was pretty cold while we were waiting but while moving it was good. It was super windy at the bottom of Thalehaha. Willie: water temp ~50F & all the anchors are good.

Comment: We did the run in Rain shells, which worked OK, but we got a bit wet in the 2 big falls. Wetsuits would have been more comfortable. Water flow is "very low" (see pic), maybe "low", but nice.

Comment: Rubio is pretty fun with enough water flow to keep things interesting but not enough to be overly worried. Shallow streams. Nice waterfalls that will get you wet if you choose so. Your shoes will get wet as you will rappel into shallow pools. Overall great trip.
