Comment: Little bit of a walk without a shuttle but it's pretty easy. Lots of multi-tier drops make for a fun day. The creek was one of the slickest I've encountered.

Comment: First descent of the upper main fork. This is hands-down the best section of creek in the Sardine complex. Lots of waterfalls in quick succession and beautiful bedrock features. Found a cow skull tied to a tree at the exit which made the whole experience that much nicer. :-) Con: the upper section takes more effort to reach. Would have been nice if the flow was higher... Sardine is probably solidly "in" somewhere in June timeframe. The upper and lower sections could be combined for a full day with a fast-moving experienced team.

Took us 1.5hrs to hike up to the top. Arguably hiking beats a shuttle on time.

Comment: We did the main fork. It was a lot of fun. We only did 3 rappels, R2, R4, and R6. We easily went around the other ones. I would say neoprene socks are close to a necessity at this time in the year. we didn't have them and we froze our feet off.

Comment: Descended the lower part of the main fork. Channel completely dry from where we dropped in, but picked up further down. Must be flowing underground / under rocks for a long section. Maps show more waterfalls farther up the main fork.

Comment: We ran a group through the East fork. There wasn't much water, even with a small overnight rain. Because some of the group was new to rappelling, we "rappelled" two drops at the start of the canyon: a slide on canyon left and immediately ~25 ft off bolts canyon left. Not quite as incredible as my first time through, but still a great way to spend a Saturday! I wonder how much longer that dark green webbing will be in such great shape... Rumor has it the webbing was placed two or three seasons ago—still looks new today! The East fork portion took 2 hours, then the rest of the canyon (including lunch) took the other 2.5.

Comment: No need to worry about where you park (at least not much), just pull off when it's convenient.

Comment: This TR is for the first descent of the East Fork of Sardine Creek. The East fork has significantly more interesting drops than the Main Fork. The rappel sequence is mighty fun as it features 4 drops back to back and the canyon makes several turns. Water levels were perfect for the intermediate canyoneer.

Comment: This is a canyon that can be run during Spring. R2 in higher flows should be rappelled without a pack on and the rope likely will pinch. The last pothole was not dangerous and easily escapable.
