Comments: Flows were elevated from recent thunderstorms. We descended R1-R3 without issue (utilizing the R3 redirect and bypassing the strainer above R1) but bailed near the start of the narrows as the water was too high to safely downclimb. We climbed up canyon left where we found the old trail to Monarch Mine and followed it back to CR 18.

Comment: The upper Unc is awesome, like a water park in the mountains! Conditions were excellent, flow was moderate, making for excellent jumps, slides and rappels. Be very careful doing the slides, unfortunately, a member of our team broke her ankle on one of the slides and We needed to perform an early climb out near the bottom to haul her back up to the jeep trail where we were able to get her a ride down the hill.

An excellent canyon that's in prime condition right now. Beware of rock getting washed over the drops.

Comment: Lovely day in Upper Unc during the Ouray Canyon Fest! Water wasn't problematic in the short raps or downclimbs in the pretty narrows. Depths were not sufficient to make jumps over a few feet in height. When the canyon obviously decreases in quality, consider exiting onto the road approach rather than continuing to creek.

Comment: Such a great canyon! Many jumps and slides. Anchors in great condition. Plenty of cold, clean water in the canyon. We recommend the quick exit above rap #5. The house-sized boulder gardens below rap #6 are annoying.

Comment: Nice flow. Comfortable in a 4/3 and rain jacket. A few swims. R1 and R4 were deep enough to jump. Lots of fun swiftwater downclimbs and a few slide opportunities. Also a few opportunities to slide (or jump) and break your legs, so check depth beforehand.

Comment: Happy with a 5-4. Other people wore a 4-3 with a shell. First rappel was safe to jump (aim for edge of foam), second rappel set rope length short and slid.
