Comments: took the ab young trail up, and sterling pass trail out. only waist deep pools but very cold. long run, probably best done in smaller groups. could not locate rapp 3 so we tied off to a boulder on the edge of a shelf.
overall a good time and some scenic rapells. alot of hiking makes you earn it.

Comment: A long, rugged, and enjoyable back country “cliffineering” adventure with great views and ever changing scenery!
We approached via AB Young trail; took us about 40mins from parking to the top. The woods up top is beautiful, lush, and green! The initial start down the drainage is a tad brushy but clears quick, turning into a canopy above as you down climb multiple sections to get to the first rappel. Looking through the canopy provides a beautiful backdrop continuing down multiple larger rappels. Eventually the scenery changes and suddenly you emerge from the canopy into a classic Sedona style canyon which was unexpected and a neat feature! A couple fun little chute downclimbs and shallow avoidable pools. We replaced webbing on multiple anchors and used retrievables for some of the drops. We never did find the 2 optional rappels, we kept an eye out but they were far from obvious or hidden in brush. We hiked out via Sterling Pass which was fantastic in it’s self; truly an A+ hiking trail! Beautiful lush forest with lovely views on both sides of the saddle. All in all this was a fun, high mileage day. If you enjoy a lot of hiking with some rappelling/down climbs, this is a good solid route!
