Comment: With the road reopened and shuttling back on the menu, this was a fun, quick day out on the cliffs. Even dry, with its easy approach and easier exit, it’s a decent intro to big drops. R1 triple unlinked bolts/chains are in a great line to pull from. It’s a little airy to rig, but no big deal if station manager has a tether. We used a 300’ rope and 300’ toggle/cord to combine R1 and R2. Used a shorter rope for R3 and R4, but could have combined them too.

Comment: Easy approach followed by some cool rappels with awesome views. As you leave forest road 213 stay high and work you way down at the last minute. This will avoid serious bush waking. FYI the third rap is chains DCR not the red webbing. The exit is now hiking up Fish creek hill to the rest area at the top. I recommend having a shuttle vehicle to get back to the trailhead. The road between the lookout and T/H was super busy. Not a destination canyon, but a great one to get some practice.

Comment: 4 bolt / chain rappels. New bolts in the last 3 years. improved trail in with small cairns to keep from trampling the hill side. Pull on first rappel requires due diligence to not cross ropes on last one down, failed and core shot one rope. All good. Hike out is a steady 1.6 mile to shuttle parking lot. Did this twice with in 4 days

Comment: First time back to Fish Creek since the landslides closed the Apache Trail. We hiked the short cut which was the orange line on my Gaia avoiding bushwhacking in the other longer route. We had a beginner in our group so it was fun to practice and take our time. There is an established climbing route and chain anchors for each rap, all in good shape. There was a small stream of water from the recent rain. We used a shuttle with one car at the rest area and the other at the trail head. It was sad to see all the landslides and damage as we walked up the road. It was easy to walk through and around the boulders and took less than an hour to walk up to the rest area.

Comment: Nice flow - that might be everything positive I have to say about this one. Let me be clear: this is not a traditional canyoneering route, but simply a sequence of rappels down a big wall. The canyon itself is awful and many groups get ropes stuck on the rappel sequence. I had not been alerted to the fact that nobody goes through the actual drainage to get to the rappel sequence and so made the mistake of going through the horribly brushy, uninteresting canyon - don't make the same mistake. Had a very difficult time pulling the second stage anchor - took at least 1/2 hour to get it. I'll never understand local interest in this route.
