Introduction[edit]
Very low pay-to-play ratio and very short with a must-do guided rappel as the finale. Great add- on for a double header day or to do on a rest day.
Approach[edit]
Descent[edit]
Scramble down the slimy creekbed for 20 minutes. Three short rappels in quick succession. Followed by a 30 minute creek and forest walk via eventual use trail on right. Final rappel is R4, the highlight of the route, a spectacular 120’ guided rappel through the flow. This is also a great rappel to go stray down as you will be very wet all the way down. Either way this is a stand out rappel.
Exit[edit]
A well maintained trail for 20 minutes. Starts on DCR then cross foot bridge to creek left, and down to cars. There is a bathroom and small covered pavilion to change clothes.
Red tape[edit]
The route is on private property owned by Pousada Caminho Dos Canyons. Contact guide Filipe Grota and Claudia for reservations. They have nice cabins at the canyon entrance that are the preferred basecamp for canyoning while in the area with great views over the valley to the sea.
