Introduction

This is an alright canyon with a number of raps near mushroom rock and located next to mushroom drops.

Approach

Hike up Boyton Canyon trail. Leave trail. Cross dry creek. Find lightly used trail up to head of canyon.

Descent

3 rappels up to 80'.

R1: 70' off tree LDC.

R2: 70' off of a tree back from drop with one of the strangest starts ever, start is too narrow for human body must stem out then drop. Solid rappel stills a must. Recommend adjusting rope length after each rappel as rope is forced to rub on rock as rappeller drops. Beware of sticking a rope here and have a longer rope as to walk downcanyon to reduce the angle of pull.

R3: Up to 80' off a bunch of large bush or small tree back from drop in main drainage. Drop is about 40', but anchor can be upto another 40' from drop. Total 80'. This can be reduced depending on how much webbing willing to leave.

Exit

Boynton Canyon Trail.

Red tape

Red Rocks pass required for parking at trailhead. $5 per day at pay station at trailhead. Annual National Park Pass will also work.
